Sappi Lanaken Mill
• Established in march 1968 (under the name KNP, a former Dutch paper manufacturer)
• Production capacities
• CTMP pulp : 190.000 tons per annum
• Paper : ±500.000 tons coated graphic paper per annum 
• Our paper, under the brand names RoyalPrint, RoyalPress and several merchant brands, is mainly used in the production of magazines, brochures, posters and other commercial print work. The Lanaken Mill products are mainly processed on rotation print presses.

Some Lanaken Mill sustainable / environmental achievements
• Biological water purification plant – aerobe and anaerobe
• Biogas, recovered out of anaerobe water purification, is used as fuel for a biogas motor (1MW)
• CHP plant  (43 MW and 70 tons of steam)
• The pulp is made out of rest wood of saw mills (65%) and forest thinning (35%)
• Use of chlorine-free bleached pulp. Our on site produced pulp is bleached with peroxide.
• Lean manufacturing and Continuous Improvement
• 3.5% of payroll costs is invested in training and development of employees
• Our SHEQ philosophy is implemented based on certified management systems: 
ISO 9001 (Q), ISO 14001 (E), OHSAS 18001 (S&H), and EMAS, PEFC CoC and FSC registrations.
• Impressive Safety and Health programs
• Major part of raw materials (pulp bales) and coating pigments are coming in by ship.
• Well sorted wastes with maximum efforts to recycle and re-use wastes: 
       The bark of wood logs is re-used as fertilizer
       Rejected wood chips and saw mill dust is sold to fiber board manufacturers.
       Sludge (water purification) is transformed / re-used as: animal bedding, biomass, second fibers in board production and as fertilizer.
